Novae 2014: Énergère and CHUM rewarded!

The ceremony for the Novae Corporate Citizenship Awards 2014 took place this week at Phi Centre in Montreal in front of more than 200 professionals. The Novae Corporate Citizenship Awards reward the best practices in sustainable development and social responsibility in Quebec. Amongst 100 participants, the committee rewarded 10 projects that showed innovation and exemplarity in their approach to environmental and social issues. Énergère won the prize in the Carbon Footprint category for the CHUM project.

CHUM has undertaken a large-scale energy efficiency project at Hôpital Notre-Dame since 2009. Énergère helps the institution rethink its entire approach to energy usage. This includes the elimination of all heavy fuel oil use, for a reduction of around 2 million liters / year, the implementation of a geothermal system and the creation of a broad network of energy recovery and redistribution throughout the hospital. The project aims to reduce energy consumption by over 40% and greenhouse gases emissions by 75% or 9,450 tonnes of CO₂ per year, the equivalent to taking 2,900 cars off the roads. In addition, the CHUM staff was trained on the new automation systems to maximize savings. Énergère will also monitor and guarantee the performance of the project for 9 years. Énergère thanks the whole Novae team and would like to congratulate all the nominees and winners!
