The Westmount High School of the English Montreal School Board welcomed the French for the Future Forum, a special event also dedicated to Earth Day.
Aimed at promoting bilingualism and the immediate and lifelong benefits of learning and communicating in French to students, the theme of the forum was Respect, Culture and Integration to Québec’s society. More than 500 students from 10 Montréal high schools and 3 different school boards attended the event. The Montréal comedian, Dorothy Rhau, was the lead speaker. The Canadian rapper, SAMIAN, also nominated Artiste de la paix in 2016, inspired the youth with his background and bilingual songs, both in French and his Algonquian native language.
This year, the English Montreal School Board decided to celebrate Earth Day at the same time by raising awareness on environmental issues to the students. Jean-Philippe Hardy, Engineering Manager at Énergère, had the privilege of addressing the students and awarding prizes to the winners of the video challenge on sustainable development. It is worth noting that Énergère is implementing a $24.6 million energy efficiency project in 17 buildings of the school board. The work will be completed before the summer!
