Énergère is proud to support the Centre de Services Scolaire de Montréal (CSSDM) for the second time, as part of phase II of its guaranteed energy savings project. The project aims to optimize systems in schools for energy efficiency and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
Three schools benefitted from this major project: Charles-Lemoyne primary school, the Montreal Motorized Equipment Trade School and the Montreal Aerospace Trade School – and work is now officially finished.
The project’s objective was to significantly reduce the energy consumption of the buildings of these three schools, and to allow all occupants to work in a more comfortable environment. In all, four major solutions were implemented in the three schools to respond to these challenges:
This major initiative is a true success on every level.
Thanks to the measures implemented, the 3 targeted schools will initially reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by approximately 66% each year. This represents around 972 tonnes, or 303 fewer vehicles on the road per year.
2.3 million kilowatt hours will also be saved, which is the equivalent electricity consumption of approximately 92 homes per year.
Finally, the measures will make it possible to save $370,684 per year.
This benefits all people, the planet, and for the CSSDM in its desire to offer eco-responsible environments to future eco-citizens.
“In addition to having its infrastructure renewed for the long term, the energy production sources of buildings are regulated according to operating sequences that make it possible to offer optimal comfort, while minimizing greenhouse gas emissions. The difference will be noticeable on a daily basis for all users,” underlines Valérie Dubé, Eng., Team Leader, Project Manager – Asset Maintenance of the Material Resources Department at the CSSDM.
To produce this energy efficiency project, the CSSDM invested nearly $3.9 million. Several grants also partially financed this project, including grants from Hydro-Québec, Énergir, the Ecoperformance Program (TEQ) and the Ministry of Education, totalling nearly $2.3 million.
The completion of this mandate was entrusted to Énergère, a leading company in the field of energy efficiency in Quebec for 25 years. Énergère will continue to assist the CSSDM Material Resources Department team after the implementation of the project, and will carry out close monitoring of energy performance over the next 11 years.
Énergère also supports its clients in developing communication and awareness campaigns. We are very proud to have supported the CSSDM in the production of its awareness campaign!
To promote the measures put in place and their benefits to users, posters were produced and installed in the three schools. This poster campaign is accompanied by a series of 5 videos explaining the measures in a clear and entertaining manner.
