Sustainable Lighting in Sainte-Julienne

The Municipality of Sainte-Julienne standardizes its network of public street lighting and continues the replacement of its sodium lighting with new LED technology lighting. The work started in late August of 2015 and will take approximately 4 weeks.

During the recent paving work in the areas of Boisé du Parc, Daviau, Patenaude and Delorme, 115 LED fixtures have been installed. This project was welcomed by the residents and has led the city to go forward with the modernization of the 807 other lighting fixtures of the municipality. The urban lighting will be standardized and the electricity consumption will be reduced by 70%.

This upgrade to LED lighting requires an investment of 435,281 $. Supported by a grant of 48,420 $ from Hydro-Québec, the project will be self-funded directly from energy and maintenance savings over a period of 8 years. The performance contract was awarded to Énergère. Aside from performing the work, Énergère will assist the municipality in the management of the equipment until the end of the payback period, in 2023.

Known for their energy efficiency and lighting quality, LED appliances have a 25 years life expectancy. The Municipality of Sainte-Julienne is proud to provide the residents with safe lighting levels while reducing annual costs for electricity and maintenance.
