The City of Blainville, winner of an award at AQME’s 25th Energia gala

The 25th night of awards of Gala Énergia, organized by the Association québécoise pour la maîtrise de l’énergie (AQME), was attended by over 300 guests from the energy efficiency industry and presented 41 finalists.

The City of Blainville won the Energia Award in the category “Existing building, other sectors (more than 10 000 sqm).” The energy efficiency project, in partnership with Énergère, reduced the energy consumption of seven municipal buildings: the arena, library, community center, city hall, Maison des Associations, La Zone complex and Réservoir Marcel-Ayotte.

More than thirty energy efficiency measures have been implemented including, among others, the implementation of heat pump units for ventilation systems, optimization of refrigeration and heat recovery systems and modernization of lighting fixtures. In addition to a 26% reduction in energy consumption, the project improved the comfort of the occupants, brought the building up to present standards, modernized equipment and reduced potable water use from the arena’s water towers.

The Energia contest allows to recognize the excellence of Quebec achievements and ingenuity in the field of energy efficiency. Énergère is proud to have worked hand in hand with the municipality and to honor the work of their team.
