A look at Aerothermal Energy!

At Energere, for over 26 years we have been offering a range of effective and recognized solutions to help our customers improve the energy efficiency of their buildings. These solutions are integrated into all of our turnkey projects, and we guarantee performance.

We are excited to highlight one of our key technologies: aerothermics.

What is aerothermics?

Aerothermal energy is a technology that uses the thermal energy present in the ambient air to heat or cool a building. This energy is captured and transformed into heat or cool air using an aerothermal heat pump. There are two main types of heat pumps:

  • Air-to-air heat pump: this captures the energy from the outside air to diffuse it directly inside the building in the form of warm or cold air.
  • Air-to-water heat pump: this captures the energy from the outside air to heat water, which is then used for heating and/or producing household hot water.

The advantages of aerothermal

This solution offers many advantages for building managers who are committed to decarbonization:

  • Energy savings: The first significant advantage of this technology is the savings on heating bills, as it uses a renewable and free energy – air.
  • Environmentally friendly: By using a renewable energy source, aerothermal energy reduces greenhouse gas emissions. It contributes to reducing the carbon footprint of buildings and combating climate change.
  • Versatility: Heat pumps can be used for heating in winter and cooling in summer, providing a comfortable solution all year round. What’s more, air-water systems can also provide domestic hot water.
  • Minimal maintenance: Heat pumps require little maintenance compared to traditional heating systems. Annual maintenance is generally sufficient to ensure their proper operation.
  • Durability and reliability: Heat pumps are designed to last. With regular maintenance, their lifespan can exceed 15 to 20 years.

The double-tier method: an innovation from Energere

Our teams have developed a two-stage method that allows for optimal energy recovery using two levels of heat capture and transfer. This innovative approach maximizes the efficiency of heat pumps, significantly reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

By integrating this technology, we offer our customers heating and cooling solutions that are both efficient and sustainable.

Concrete results

We’re proud to enable our clients to achieve proven results using this technology. For example, for two schools in the Centre des services scolaire de Montréal, EMEMM and EMAM, aerothermal energy allows each year to:

  • Reduce GHG emissions by 415 tonnes
  • Save over 220,000 m3 of natural gas
  • Achieve financial savings of $45,000

Consider also our project with MDA Corporation, a company specializing in the development and manufacturing of surveillance systems and intelligence solutions. Various technologies, including aerothermal energy, were implemented in their Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue plant and have made it possible to achieve these annual results:

  • A reduction in GHG emissions of 1,021 tonnes
  • Energy savings of $243,000
  • Reduce energy bills by 18%

In short, aerothermal energy is an efficient, ecological and economical heating and cooling solution for buildings. By taking advantage of the renewable energy of the air, it offers a sustainable alternative to traditional heating systems, while contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and reducing energy costs for building owners and managers.
